Brego Arts & New Media is independent, minority-owned and self-funded. No investors, no venture money, no one to answer to but our readers.

We are here for the original promise of Web3: an open, egalitarian internet where people have real choices in how they bank, pay, send money and own what they make. Somewhere along the way that vision got crowded out by self-dealing and grift. Our work is to keep the good, leave the bad, and build the version worth finding.

Everything we publish is free to read and will stay that way. If our work has been useful to you, support keeps a shoestring operation running: the servers, the research, and the independence. It also backs the projects closest to us, including a green technology invention in development, a five-cat rescue, and bringing filmmaking to Western Massachusetts.

Crypto Art in Six Steps

Crypto-Artwork.com explores digital art on the blockchain: how it is made, collected and kept, and who it pays.

0 of 6 complete
Digital artwork whose ownership or editions are recorded on a blockchain, usually as NFTs.

Crypto art

Minting creates the token for a work. The image itself is often stored elsewhere, with the token pointing to it.

Mint

If the image sits on an ordinary server, it can disappear. Decentralized storage such as IPFS or Arweave is more durable.

Storage

Artists can set a royalty on resales, but many marketplaces now make it optional. Check before you mint.

Creator royalty

The blockchain shows every past owner, which makes provenance clear. It does not prove the minter made the art.

Provenance

Buying an NFT usually gives you the token, not the copyright. The license attached to the work says what you may do with it.
